Introduction
  PThis workshop is delivered in four sessions and is designed to introduce and explore analogue photographic practice. This will include using 35mm camera controls, processing black and white film as well as making black and white prints.
  The first session covers camera control, including aperture/shutter and exposure, and includes practice in making photographs and the practice of processing black and white films.
  The second section provides instruction and support in darkroom practice, including making a contact sheet from negatives and making a black and white prints from your negatives. Before session 3 it is expected that participants will practice what has been learnt and the workshop leader will be available one evening to provide support.
  The fourth session will review the work covered in the previous sessions, with an opportunity for questions and answers, demonstrations and reinforcement of practice, as necessary.
  The fifth session covers more advanced printing techniques for image quality and an introduction to the mounting and finishing of photographic prints.
  Participants in this program may elect to submit work for the Summer Exhibition to be held in the gallery from 21 June – 28 August 2008. Inclusion in this exhibition is not guaranteed but is at the discretion of the curator.

Materials
  Basic materials (2 x 35 mm black and white films; 20 x sheets 10” x 8” multigrade paper will be provided. Any additional materials used to be purchased. A limited number of Nikon 35 mm slr cameras are available for use by attendees, these must be reserved at the time of booking place on course.
