This workshop is intended to provide an introduction to the techniques required in order to produce illustrations using pastels. Whilst exploring a range of techniques, students will be encouraged to develop their personal illustrative style and will be given direction on how to maintain a consistent identity through a series of works.
Session one
• Introducing dry (chalk) pastels and fixatives
• Showing successful works of pastels by different illustrators
• Showing various pastel papers and masking papers
• Preparing compositions and sizes for pastels
Session two
• Checking compositions and confirming sizes
• Demonstration of dry pastels and masking paper
• Completing test pieces and try-outs
Session three and four
• Progressing individual illustrations
• Exploring final touches to perfect the final
Session five
• Presentation techniques
• Group critique
• Individual technique development

* Full course fee must be paid on registration.
MATERIALS:
Basic materials and equipment required for the workshop will be provided. Participants must purchase any additional materials used. Participants are advised to bring their own aprons.
