Introduction

The workshop is dedicated to drawing the figure through a structured approach that will provide the firm ground necessary for both objective and imaginative drawing. Students will explore both form and content by carefully observing the figure and working through compositional devices, proportions of the figure, movement, mood and space.
Observational skills will be developed through gesture drawing, contour drawing and tonal drawing. A range of media and techniques, both traditional and contemporary, will be explored to encourage a personal approach and style.

Please note that registration may be for either four sessions (session 1 – 4 or session 5 – 8) or for all 8 sessions.

MATERIALS:
Basic materials and equipment (range of papers, drawing book, pencils, Chinese ink, charcoal and graphite sticks) will be provided. Additional materials may be required as the workshop progresses, according to the needs of the individual; these are to be purchased by participants. A limited quantity of papers and media are available for purchase from Tashkeel. Participants are advised to bring their own apron or over-shirt to protect their clothing.
