Introduction

FELT, made from wool fibres, is considered to be the oldest man-made material. Nomadic people from Central Asia started making felt thousands of years ago and today Turkey and Kirgizstan are still leading countries in the craft of felt making.
This workshop is intended to act as an introductory course to the process of felt making. It will be delivered through a series of demonstrations and practical exercises and will teach the traditional way of felt making using sheep and camel fibres. Students will also have the opportunity to experiment with silk and cotton fabrics and will be encouraged to use felt to create two and three dimensional forms.
This is an excellent workshop for artists/designers interested in textiles, fashion and textile art.
