This workshop consists of a series of demonstrations and practical exercises covering the basic techniques required in order to be creative with photography. Students will learn the use of relevant equipment and the skills required to take, develop and print images using analogue techniques.
The course will focus on three specific areas: the camera and film, the negative and the dark room. The first section will cover an introduction to the camera, understanding film and experimental shooting. The second will be an introduction to techniques of film development. The third section will consider the creative use of the darkroom and will include an introduction to the darkroom, exploration and experimentation with the enlarger, chemical choices, the potential of paper and techniques of image manipulation.
Ultimately, students will be encouraged to combine controlled experimentation with a degree of the accidental and the incidental, in order to create individual and unique photographic images.Schedule

Materials
Tashkeel will supply basic equipment required for the workshop. Additional materials may be purchased, as required. A limited number of analogue cameras are available for loan for use for this course but must be requested at the time of registration.
