For the love of art

The annual summer exhibition held at the Tashkeel gallery, ‘Made in Tashkeel 2009’, this year includes the work of more than 20 artists who have been actively involved with the centre during the past year.
Tashkeel is a Dubai-based refuge for artists in need of a place to paint, design, sculpt, sketch, develop photographs or even attend any one of its numerous art workshops, which run throughout the year.
The ‘Made in Tashkeel 2009’ exhibit includes selected artworks from recent printmaking, photography and drawing workshops, as well as works produced by members in the Tashkeel studios.
Exhibiting artists include more than ten different nationalities, including Australian, Emirati, Spanish, English, German and American, and their experience ranges from that of student to professional artists.
“It is encouraging to see how much work included in this exhibition has been produced in the developing artist hub that is the Tashkeel studios,” says Lateefa Bint Maktoum, Tashkeel Director.
“We hope that this show will encourage the artist community in the UAE to interact with one another; advancing the development of making and thinking about art in the region.”
Here’s a quick look at just a few of the artists currently on show at Tashkeel gallery. To check out the entire exhibition visit the centre in Nad Al Sheeba.
The ‘Made in Tashkeel 2009’ exhibit runs until August 20.
